About Mike Oakley
In June 2020, after several years of visiting Fripp Island, Mike and his wife Josephine chose the Lowcountry, and the charm of Beaufort, to live and eventually retire after raising two children and spending more than 20 years in Greenville, SC.
Since 1989, Oakley Construction has been a licensed SC Residential Contractor, building and renovating fine homes in Charleston, Isle of Palms, Wild Dunes, and Greenville, SC. Mike also spent a few years with BMW, GE Turbine and Lockheed Martin. He describes those years as invaluable to the organization and management style that have made his construction business so successful.
Philosophy
His philosophy is that building a home should be an exciting and positive experience for the homeowner. Mike starts by limiting the amount of work he accepts each year so that he can be hands on at each project every day, ensuring steady progress. Through attention to detail, he strives to make each home unique and individual to the homeowner. The results exceed client expectations.
Experience
The majority of Mike’s work has been extensive renovations, with select new homes and special projects throughout his building career. Historic homes, new homes up to 8,000 sft, and commercial maintenance and installations have been his mainstay for the last 32 years. Mike partners with each client in planning and design for the best results possible. Mike's practical solutions to design challenges create homes for future generations. Experience matters.
Integrity
Clients deserve to have their builder on the job every day. At the end of the project, the punch list created should be minimal, if at all, and no call backs. Selecting the right craftsmen and vendors doesn’t mean the least expensive—or the most—it means the best suited for the job.
